Cockermouth CAN
Community action for a sustainable future
Tree Planting
We're on a mission to improve spaces for wildlife and biodiversity in and around the town. Our current project involves working with a nearby farmer to restore the farm's lost hedgerows. Later this year, we'll be back nurturing the new trees in the park and other green spaces around the town.
Repair Café
Newly launched this autumn, our Repair Café brings together a band of volunteers keen to help you keep your items going and out of landfill. The café runs on the third Saturday of each month, offering a friendly space where you can get help repairing your belongings and reducing waste in our community.
Local Food
Food can have so many benefits for our health and wellbeing, as well as the planet. Our community meals and food workshops are a great way to find out more about local and organic produce. Come along to learn more about how the food we eat connects to our health and the environment around us.
About us
Cockermouth CAN is a community action group run entirely by volunteers, which is working to make the Cockermouth area a greener place to live. Our projects are aimed at reducing carbon emissions, increasing biodiversity and improving the quality of life in our local community. We work closely with partner organisations and avoid duplicating the good work that others are doing.
